One way to reduce the pollution generated by the disposal of face masks is the development of ecological flexible batteries carried out by student Ricardo Mendoza, Dr. Jorge Roberto Oliva Uc and their group of collaborators in Mexico and the United States. They already have the prototype that can be used to power cell phones, TV controls and portable medical equipment to monitor vital signs, among others.

As part of the Conacyt Chairs project, Strengthening and consolidation of the doctorate in materials science and technology of the Faculty of Chemical Sciences (FCQ) of the Autonomous University of Coahuila (Uadec), Coahuila scientists from the Department of Polymers and Ceramics at the FCQ, as well as from the Technological Institute of Saltillo —belonging to the National Technological Institute of Mexico (Tecnm)—, They develop flexible devices capable of taking human body heat, converting it into electricity and using it in different electronic devices.

Interview with:
Sergio Adrián Pérez Ruiz, Research Coordinator of Ozmaq.
Dr. Jorge Roberto Oliva Uc, Researcher at the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACyT).

Dr. Jorge Roberto Oliva Uc works on flexible electronics (supercapacitors and batteries) and he develops materials for elimination of contaminants from the water (herbicides, pharmaceuticals and dyes).
